2015 ACAR : We’ve got room for one more!

The 2015 Aged Care Approvals Round has been announced and will close on 25th September. At first glance the number of home care places available in this round is less than the number allocated in 2014 (6,045 in 2015 and 6,653 in 2014). However there is a significant and much wanted difference.

In the 2015 ACAR, the Australian Government is releasing a combined total of 5,595 Level 3 and Level 4 home care places, an increase of 1,729 places (45%) over the combined 3,866 Level 3 and Level 4 home care places released in the 2014 ACAR. The remaining home care places released in the 2015 ACAR are Level 2 home care places.

Other items of note include a focus on supporting small CALD providers and the SA2 (Statistical Area Level 2) areas of geographical focus in the regions. The SA2s are a general-purpose medium-sized area representing a community that interacts together socially and economically.

Applicants have a reduced number of questions to answer however the content largely remains the same as 2014 with one additional dot point that asks how their service supports wellness or re-ablement approaches and promotes independence.
